Rabat - The Islamic-Christian Commission in Support of Jerusalem has praised the continuous interest of H.M. king Mohammed VI of Morocco, Chairman of the Al Quds Committee, in the holy city.
During a meeting Monday in Ramallah between Abdelkébir Alaoui M'daghri, Director General of the Bayt Mal Al Quds Agency, offshoot of the Al Quds Committee, and the members of the Commission, the two sides considered means to develop the joint action in order to preserve the holy city, protect its sacred symbols, and support the fight of the city's populations.
A statement of the agency said the Grand Judge of Palestine, Sheikh Taysir Tamimi hailed the political, moral and material role of Morocco in supporting the Palestinian cause, and particularly Al Quds.
Morocco’s support is deep-rooted, and relations between the Palestinian and Moroccan peoples go back far in history, said sheikh Tamimi, also member of the presidency council of the Islamic-Christian Commission.
For his part, bishop Atallah called for preserving Al Quds from the plots of the Israeli colonisers through practical stands and measures, while Secretary General of the Commission, Hassan Khater insisted on the importance of reinforcing ties and cooperation between the Commission and the Al Quds Committee.
Alaoui M’daghri underlined the role of the Agency in reinforcing the resistance of the inhabitants of Al Quds through building schools, revamping buildings and improving the teaching conditions, adding that the agency also supports the health sector by backing the action of the Palestinian Red Crescent. The agency had also, among several actions, fitted the Al Matlaa hospital with a hemodialysis centre and a renal transplant centre.
The official also recalled the role of Bayt Mal Al Quds Agency in the housing sector, by offering interest-free loans to Al Quds inhabitants to help them restore their houses or construct new ones.
The agency has also made a number of actions in the social sectors, and provided support to the holiday camps in Morocco and al Quds, Alaoui M’daghri said.
On this occasion, he announced a financial support to the Islamic-Christian Commission by the agency, noting that this support will be further reinforced to serve the interest of the holy city.
