OIC lauds HM the King's efforts for Palestine

Jeddah - The Executive Committee of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) commended HM King Mohammed VI's efforts to get Israel to end its hostile practices against Palestinians.

In a statement at the end of the OIC extraordinary ministerial meeting, the Committee lauded the efforts exerted by HM the King, mainly with the Quartet on the Middle East, to pressure Israel into resuming negotiations on the basis of international resolutions and agreements concluded between the parties concerned.

The meeting is held to examine the latest developments in the situation in Al-Quds, and the recurrent Israeli aggressions against the Al-Aqsa mosque.

Speaking Sunday at the event, Moroccan state secretary for foreign affairs, Mohamed Ouzzine, said that HM King Mohammed VI, chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, undertakes all necessary actions to defend the holy city of Al-Quds and preserve its legal status and its spiritual character.

Ouzzine said the sovereign constantly calls upon influential powers and the United Nations to shoulder their responsibilities and address the unilateral plans conducted by Israel in the eastern part of Al-Quds and other Palestinian territories, which threaten peace and stability in the region.

The Moroccan official recalled the monarch's message to the Al-Quds International Forum, held in Rabat on October 28-29, wherein HM the King called for a world alliance to protect Al-Quds. He also noted that the sovereign urged for breaking the deadlock over the peace process in the Middle East.

Ouzzine highlighted the need to promote Bait Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency's actions to preserve the Arab-Islamic character of the holy city, underlining the need to join efforts of Arab and Muslim countries in international forums, mainly within the UN and the UNESCO.
